As our cello program grows in numbers
and quality, it is fortunate that we have the opportunity to add a wonderful
teacher and player, Abigail McHugh, to our ITE faculty. Abigail grew up in the
area (her mom is our violin teacher Kathy!), and studied with Einer Holm, a
former professor of Ithaca College. During high school she attended Interlochen
Arts Academy studying with Crispin Cambell. She then studied with Richard Aaron
at the Cleveland Institute of Music for both bachelor of Music and master of
Music degrees.
Abigail also pursued Suzuki teacher
Training with five wonderful cello teachers, performed with orchestras for a
season in Germany and Mexico, taught in a variety of U.S. and international
venues, and has just returned from nine months of teaching in Spain.
In addition to teaching studio cello lessons and group repertory classes at ITE,
Abigail will be available for coaching chamber music ensembles.
