Kirsten Marshall,
violin instructor/conductor, has been on the
faculty of Ithaca Talent Education Suzuki
School (ITE) since 1994. Ms. Marshall
received Bachelor and Master of Music
degrees from the Cleveland Institute of
Music with majors in violin performance and
Suzuki pedagogy. In Cleveland her Suzuki
training was with Michele Higa George. She
has additional training with Teri Einfeldt,
Linda Fiore and Alice Joy Lewis. Ms.
Marshall also holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in music education from Case Western
Reserve University. Violin teachers
include: David Updegraff, James Stern,
Linda Cerone and Anna Tringas. Conducting
studies were with David Einfeldt, Carl
Topilow and Louis Lane. She is a member of
Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Honor Music
Society.
Ms. Marshall conducted the
1998 Suzuki Youth Orchestra of the Americas
at the national Suzuki Association
conference in Chicago, IL. The ITE Chamber
Orchestra and Advanced Violin Ensemble
released a CD in 2002 (Bach to the
Future) that featured two premiere
recordings for string orchestra. Ms.
Marshall conducted and produced the
orchestral tracks. She is an active
performer in the Ithaca area and is a member
of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Ithaca’s
professional ensemble. In 2003, she
co-commissioned and premiered a new sonata
for violin and piano by Robert Paterson. Ms.
Marshall is frequently sought after as a
clinician across the U.S. and Canada. |
