Student and Family Notes:

"ITE
... has been such an important part of our lives
that it's hard to think how to put it into
words....I can't imagine how her childhood and
adolescence would have been without the
enrichment of your school." -appreciative
parent
"I thank
you for years of fond memories, good learning
and productive work. We praise your
program loudly and often, and are so very glad
to have had it as such a wonderful part of my
son's childhood." -parent

My
experience at Ithaca Talent Education has helped me gain
a skill that I can feel confident in doing.
Because of ITE, I was able to form my own identity,
separate from my home and school life. Being a student
at ITE has also taught me self-discipline. Because I
have acquired the discipline to practice regularly with
concentration, I am able to apply the same discipline to
my work in school, and other areas in my life which
require time and focus.
My ITE experience has
also given me a great appreciation for music. I have
grown to love classical music through my own
performances and the performances of various artists,
teachers, and other students. Ithaca Talent
Education has also allowed me to tour Mexico with the
Advanced Violin Ensemble, and perform a solo recital in
Ithaca and again in Mexico.
In addition to teaching
me these skills, ITE has also provided the opportunity
for me to experience my music with my mom. Since the
Suzuki method encourages parents to learn the instrument
and follow along with the child, my mom and I have
experienced all of my musical milestones together. This
has made us closer by bringing us together during every
lesson and class. Sharing my violin experience
with my mom has made it more memorable and much more
enjoyable than it would have been doing it alone.
One of my favorite
parts of the ITE program is the opportunity to attend
the Suzuki summer institutes at Ithaca College. I have
attended these summer institutes at Ithaca College every
year since I was six years old. Every summer I come home
with new friends, exciting new pieces learned, and
inspiration drawn from the fun and focused atmosphere
that allows me to improve. -Keelin Davis
"Often
when we return to important places from our childhood,
they do not live up to our expectations and fond
memories. This has never been the case when I return to
ITE - I am as impressed now as always by the wonderful
environment you create there for your students and
teachers, and it will always be a magical site of many
happy memories for me."
-Sarah Crocker, guest
performer at the 2005 Ithaca Suzuki Institute and former ITE student
