Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Talent Education movement in Japan
believed that every child has a tremendous potential of musical
talent and ability. The Suzuki Method is based on the
philosophy that, with proper instruction and nurturing, every child
can excel. The pattern of instruction offers an opportunity
for patent and child to work together toward a common goal.
The reward for dedicated effort is the joy of shared achievement,
and the fulfilling experience of beautiful music making.
Dr. Suzuki called his method the "Mother Tongue Method",
and applied it to teaching violin, cello, piano, and flute as well
as to his Kindergarten. Incredible success resulted from
applying many of the principles of how individuals learn languages
to the learning of music and other disciplines. Instruction
can begin as early as three years of age.
World wide, the Suzuki Method is recognized to be one of
the greatest contributions to music education of recent centuries.
Hundreds of thousand of children have learned music by this approach
and have had their lives enriched by Dr. Suzuki's philosophy and
teaching methods. |
